Mitites are enemies found in Pikmin 2. They cannot attack Pikmin, but they can inadvertently cause them to be killed. They are small, pink creatures with white shells and five legs to move around. When stumbled upon they appear in a swarm of ten, scuttling around, sending both themselves and the Pikmin into a panic. They are found in eggs on the ground and in Honeywisp eggs, underground in specific locations (such as sublevel 10 or Hole of Heroes), as well as in the bodies of some Raging Long Legs. Mitites can be found just about anywhere, it just depends on the chance that an egg will contain some. They will eventually burrow back unless killed. If you are trying to get Pokos, they are also somewhat efficient. The reason Mitites are found inside eggs is because they lay their eggs inside the eggs of other organisms, making them parasitoids. Strangely, they cannot be petrified in the field or cave you find them in, but can be petrified in the Piklopedia entry by pressing the Z button.

Notes[]

Olimar's Notes[]

These parasitic enemies feed on eggs. Upon reaching maturity, they excrete a special pheromone that attracts females of a certain species, enticing these females to swallow the Mitites whole. (Pikmin, however, seem to dislike the scent.) After entering the female's body, the Mitites lay their own eggs inside the host's eggs just prior to the host spawning.

Louie's Notes[]

Flash fry with garlic and red chilis in a hot pan, then sprinkle with gorgonzola. Some dinner guests might find the legs unappealing, so it's best to remove them before serving.

How to kill[]

Mitite

Four scurrying Mitites.

The best way to kill them is to throw Purple Pikmin onto them (any color will work, but purple ones send out shockwaves that kill the all of the surrounding Mitites). They will drop nectar and sprays when killed, which makes them valuable if you want flowered Pikmin, especially if you are able to kill all of them.

Nuvola warning

They're just as annoying as they were in Pikmin 2. Progglings serve a similar purpose.
